United Airlines departs from “Knuffingen Airport” at Miniatur Wunderland

US carrier United Airlines has now stationed a Boeing 757-200 at “Knuffingen Airport” at Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg. The aircraft has now set off on its maiden flight. A video of the event is available at https://youtu.be/qF2cIbmzSsg.
The US airline has a close relationship with the city. Since 2005, United has operated a non-stop service from Hamburg to Newark Liberty International Airport. The seasonal daily service will resume on 26 April, 2018.


Hamburg Airport launching new virtual reality app

A free virtual reality app is now available for iOS and Android devices and gives users information in a virtual reality-boarding gate about flight destinations and airlines at Hamburg Airport. The app has been developed by Hamburg Airport in co-operation with the Bremen-based VistoVR start-up and provides photographs, 360-degree clips and videos of places like New York, Marrakesh and the Algarve to give users ideas for their next holiday. The app can be used with a virtual reality headset.


Self bag drop: New service for passengers and airlines


Hamburg Airport has launched the next generation of airport. With the new, fully automated baggage drop, passengers will benefit from even more independence and flexibility at departure. Since the start of November 2017, ten “self bag drop” kiosks have been in operation in Terminal 1. They were officially launched today. Four stations have also been installed for automated check-in. The kiosks are technically equipped to provide services for all airlines. They “self bag drop” procedure is currently being used by Air France, KLM and easyJet. Other airlines will be added over time.
