Hamburg Airport presents the 2017 summer timetable
The new summer timetable comes into effect at Hamburg Airport on 26 March, 2017. It is valid until 28 October, 2017. Around 60 airlines fly to 130 destinations. The airlines are focussing their attention for the 2017 summer season on sun and swimming destinations. There will be 14 completely new destinations in Hamburg’s route network: Verona, Lamezia Terme, Katowice, Venice Treviso, Bologna, Malta, Valencia, Almería, Larnaca, Tallinn, Liverpool, Cluj-Napoca, Bordeaux and Elazig. On routes to another fifteen destinations, passengers will now have the choice of additional airlines.
Hamburg Airport winner in the "Best Regional Airport Europe" category
Hamburg Airport wins the famous Skytrax World Award in the "Best Regional Airport Europe" category for the third time, following victories in 2011 and 2012. Once again, Hamburg's leading position amongst Europe's non-hub airports is recognised.
Hamburg Airport looks back at a successful year 2016
2016 was a year full of exciting events for Hamburg Airport. New routes and airlines extended the variety of flights available for passengers. And innovative services such as modernised gates and a new airport app made sure that travelling was comfortable. Hamburg Airport is continuing this trend in 2017. Since the start of the year, the airport is offering passengers 24 hours of free WLAN access. The route network will continue to grow.

Hamburg celebrates world's largest harbour festival in May
The 830th port anniversary celebrations get underway from May 10-12, 2019 in Hamburg. Visitors can look forward to a diverse programme with 300 vessels including Windjammers, cruise ships, restored museum ships and maritime service vehicles as they parade along the Elbe. The three-day celebrations will take place on the Landungsbrücken, in Speicherstadt, in HafenCity, at the Fischmarkt and at the Museumshafen Oevelgönne.
Hamburg's economic growth above the national average
Commerce in Hamburg growing by 1.7 per cent - Cisco study proves above-average digital level. Industry and construction proved to be important drivers of Hamburg’s economic growth in an overall successful year 2018. The number of people in employment rose by 1.2 per cent or 15,000 to a record 1.26 million. The number of employees in jobs liable for social insurance payments came to 2.4 per cent in 2018 over the previous year.
5.1 per cent growth in Hamburg's tourism industry
In 2018, overnight stays in Hamburg rose 700,000 over 2017, the Hamburg Tourismus GmbH announced Friday (February 22, 2019) at its annual press conference in the Elbphilharmonie. And the tourism industry is expecting growth of 3 to 5 per cent in 2019. The figures for 2018 indicated an increase of 5.1 per cent in overnight stays, according to the Statistikamt Nord. The industry’s 88,690 employees, EUR 4.4 billion in gross added value and around EUR 300 million in tax revenue reflect its clout in Hamburg.
